The APIEMS conference started in 1998 with China-Japan and Korea-Japan joint conferences. The two conferences joined forces in Japan in 1999 and became a prime Asia-Pacific conference. In 2000, it was held in Hong Kong and attracted scholars from all over the world. The theme of this fourth conference is on new role of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems in the global production, operation and free trade environment. This conference will be joined with the International Foundation for Production Research (IFPR) Asia Meeting and the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers.

Authors are encouraged to organize a session in topics relevant to the conference. Interested session organizers are requested to submit a proposal, including the title of the session, titles of articles, and a list of participating authors and their affiliation, by June 30, 2002, to the Conference General Secretary.

Prospective authors should submit a two-page extended abstract, typically consisting of one page text (600-800 words) and one-page figures, tables and references. The abstract must be written in English and e-mailed to email@example.com. Abstracts will be selected based on their originality, relevance, significance, and clarity of presentation. Full-length manuscripts are required after acceptance of abstracts. Microsoft Word is the required format of both abstracts and papers. - June 1, 2002 Authors submit their abstracts.
- July 31, 2002 Conference Committee informs authors the review results.
- Sept.15, 2002 Final version of manuscript is due.

| ||All papers will be published in the conference proceedings in CD-format. All accepted abstracts will be printed in paper format. Best papers will be selected and published in a special issue of the Journal of Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers (an EI journal). |
| REGISTRATION FEE |
| ||The registration fee is US $300, including page charge and admission to all sessions, reception party, banquet and coffee breaks. One of the authors is required to pre-register for the conference by September 15, 2002. An additional US $100 for each paper is required for multiple paper submissions. No requests for refunds will be accepted after November 1, 2002. |
